OVERVIEW

Project77 was engaged by a high performing middle and high school to help codify common core Math standard-aligned assessments and create a data visualization dashboard to empower teachers and school leaders to discover insights to support student learning.

Previously, the schools did not employ a standard Math assessment, which presented challenges in measuring growth of students over time across grade levels. When Project77 joined, the schools were transitioning from individually-created student Math assessments at the middle school level to standardized assessments across all grade levels.

The effort was launched to better gauge and understand the trends in student learning to effectively target interventions. Before the schools could come to understand data insights, it needed to build infrastructure to integrate, store, transform, analyze, and visualize its collected data.

Project77’s data cleansing and customized data analysis provide its partners the benefit of focusing on what matters most: making well-informed and impactful evidence-based decisions.

  • Worked with school liaisons to codify standard operating procedures for teacher-level data collection (i.e. normalized how measures were collected and validated data inputs to maintain integrity)
  • Performed data wrangling, using custom python scripts to transform data into an intelligent format conducive to year-over-year analysis
  • Prototyped a dashboard visualization for teachers to view summative class information and drill down to view statistics for each individual student
  • Conducted workshops with educators to build a common understanding of how they can explore data sets, form hypotheses, find insights, and create tangible action steps

Project77 utilizes a variety of software packages to create visualizations that take complex findings and present them in a way that is informative and engaging. As the size and scope of data increases, the complexity of the data analysis increases as well. Project77 synthesizes the analysis and insights of data with powerful data visualization packages to produce valuable, meaningful, and actionable outputs.
